Managed care was considered one strategy to address the two central issues identified as major concerns: 1. Could managed care help curtail Medicaid liability growth? 2. Could managed care provide a better continuum of care to Medicaid recipients? Lawmakers interested in exploring these two questions requested the creation of a Task Force to explore, without predisposition, the use of managed care within the Illinois Medicaid program to determine what, if any, improvements would be applicable and feasible. For this reason, the Managed Care Medicaid Task Force was created.
