Description:  Survival analysis is a methodology that has been developed and applied mainly in medical and engineering research. It analyzes rates over time in which terminal events or failures occur for a given population or group. Survival analysis has been used for instance, to assess the rates over time in which cancer symptoms appear for a group of patients and to compare the rates across subgroups of patients receiving different treatments. The technique also has been used to assess product life or to compare rates at which different instruments break down in field settings.
