When constructed and permitted for operation, this landfill would be allowed to accept municipal solid waste and non-hazardous special waste. In January 2010, BOL issued a permit approving a redesign of 22.5 acres in the southwest corner of Clinton Landfill 3 which subdivided the landfill into the MSWU and the CWU and included additional environmental safeguards for the CWU.
