 Description:  The Family Matters Project, conducted by the Center for Law and Social Work, has provided in-home social work and legal services to families to develop new legal plans for children who no longer have a living parent or legal guardian, or backup plans for children in the care of older, fragile, or ill caregivers. The majority of families have been referred by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Post Adoption Unit for assistance when a caregiver is ill, and the family is in crisis. This report includes recommendations to the Illinois House of Representatives.
