The Illinois Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Act requires insurance companies to pay into a special trust fund an amount equal to $1 for each private passenger automobile insured for physical damage coverage. This amount collected and administered by the Council totals approximately $5.4 million each year. Funds are designated primarily for law enforcement programs that increase the investigation and prosecution of vehicle theft-related crimes.

The executive order directs the Implementation Board to address the challenges identified in the IIJIS Strategic Plan and to set goals and objectives for future justice information systems. The Implementation Board promotes the electronic sharing of justice information by coordinating the development, adoption, and implementation of plans for systems designed to make justice information readily accessible to justice agencies. The responsibilities of the IIJIS Board center on promoting the integration of justice information systems and include: coordinating the development of systems that enhance integration; establishing standards to facilitate the electronic sharing of justice information; protecting individual privacy rights related to the sharing of justice information; and coordinating the funding of integration efforts.

 Description:  The Illinois Crime Reduction Act of 2009 (Public Act 96-0761) established the Adult Redeploy Illinois program to increase public safety and target resources wisely to design effective alternatives to incarceration for non-violent offenders. Adult Redeploy Illinois provides financial incentives to local jurisdictions that design and implement community service plans for non-violent offenders instead of sending them to prison. When properly implemented, community-based programs are more cost-effective than incarceration at treating certain types of offenders without negatively impacting public safety.
