The new IDPH form adds a greater level of specificity when it comes to decisions about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and life support measures including being intubated, placed on a ventilator and fed through a tube. Three other people received organs from the same donor, including one recipient in northeastern Illinois. The recipient has no symptoms of rabies, but has started anti-rabies shots as a precaution. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), along with local health departments, is working to identify any hospital personnel who may need post-exposure prophylaxis, in consultation with CDC.
