  • The Special Pension Briefing is an annual summation of the findings of the 5 State retirement systems respective actuarial valuations. The report analyzes changes in unfunded liability, historical funded ratio status, statutorily-mandated State pension contributions for the ensuing fiscal year and long-term funding projections through FY 2045 pursuant to P.A. 88-593. The report also analyzes investment returns for the most recently-completed fiscal year, and documents any changes in actuarial assumptions that might affect the funds cumulative funded status or future State contributions. The 2022 version of the Special Pension Briefing contains a guest essay by the Commissions actuary, Segal Consulting, on proper actuarial funding methods for public pension funds.
