Description

  • Opioid overdose deaths are reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) through the submission of death certificates from coroners, medical examiners, or attending physicians. After the death certificates are received by IDPH, they are submitted to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) to assign International Classification of Disease, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) codes using NCHSs SuperMICAR software.
