- The Chicago Zoological Society, the defendant here, does business as Brookfield Zoo on land owned by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, with which it has a written agreement. In 2012, the zoo was sued for negligence by a woman who claimed that she had sustained injuries when she tripped and fell on one of the zoos paved pathways nearly two years earlier.
