- Press Release: Local unemployment rates fell across the state in February and the rate in the Chicago-Joliet-Naperville Metro Division fell 0.8 percentage points to reach 9.0 percent, the lowest it has been since 2009, according to preliminary data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). Not seasonally adjusted data compares February 2014 to February 2013.
