  • Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) staff was in Gillespie today to examine damage caused by last weeks destructive tornado and to provide the Departments contact information to city officials. Staff with the Departments division of consumer education left disaster packets with the Gillespie City Clerk and explained what the Department does. Affected homeowners can receive assistance through the insurance claims process. Department staff will provide information to homeowners on how to properly document storm damage, what their policy covers, the benefits of making temporary repairs, what to expect during the claims process, and how to avoid fraud.
