  • The Illinois Department of Transportation announces today that weather permitting, construction work on Springfield Avenue northwest of Rockford will begin on Monday, April 23, 2012. Rock Road Companies is starting the $459,502 project to place bituminous shoulders on the 2.5 mile section of Springfield Road from Central Avenue/Owen Center Road to south of Safford Road. Safety rumble strips will be placed in the new shoulders that are scheduled to be completed by mid-May.
