  • The Illinois State Board of Education first developed and submitted a five-year Comprehensive Strategic Plan for Elementary and Secondary Education in 2005, pursuant to Public Act 93-1036. The Strategic Plan has evolved over the years, specifically being reassessed in 2008 after an analysis of data and emerging trends. The Board refocused the vision of the Strategic Plan to strengthen and align its goals with the changing educational demands of preparing students for success in careers and college in the 21st century.
