Chief Justice Thomas and Justices Freeman, Fitzgerald, Garman, and Karmeier concurred in the judgment and opinion. Justice Kilbride specially concurred, with opinion. In 2004, the minor plaintiff in this Du Page County lawsuit was injured in a hockey game between the junior varsity teams of Barrington High School and the Naperville Central Redhawks.
