- A Department of Revenue study published today puts Illinois state governments lost tax collections from online sales at $153 million for the current fiscal year significantly below the $500 to $800 million cited in previous studies. The study, published in State Tax Notes, establishes the amount of tax uncollected from online sales as part of the agency's ongoing effort to improve collection of sales taxes due to the state.
