  • Legislative Information System (LIS). The System was created as a permanent service agency of the General Assembly in September 1977, and has carried on the tradition of providing data processing and technical services to the Illinois General Assembly that was established by its predecessor agency, the Joint Committee on Legislative Information Systems. While much has changed in the field of information technology over the ensuing years, and the services provided and the means of providing them have changed, the Legislative Information System has remained committed to its primary mission: To apply information technology to the operations of the Illinois General Assembly to enable the legislative branch to perform its constitutional and statutory responsibilities.
