  • Despite a challenging economy, the Illinois Lottery once again set records during fiscal year 2009. Our commitment to improving the player experience led to our seventh consecutive annual sales record, and our third straight year in excess of $2 billion. As the Lottery introduced new games and took advantage of social networking outlets like Twitter and Facebook, we allowed players to Have a Ball like never before. Our players responded by purchasing 102,491,802 winning tickets and claiming more than $1.1 billion in prizes. As a result, the Lottery achieved its highest single-year revenue total since our inception in 1974. We have audited the financial statements of the State Lottery Fund of the State of Illinois, Department of Revenue - Illinois Lottery (Department), as of and for the month and for the year ended June 30, 2009, and have issued our report thereon dated December 30, 2009.
