Chief Justice Fitzgerald and Justices Freeman, Thomas, Kilbride, and Garman concurred in the judgment and opinion. Justice Burke took no part in the decision. In December of 1998, plaintiff left work and sought treatment at a hospital emergency room. This event caused him to realize that his mental and physical problems were allegedly caused by childhood sexual abuse he had experienced in 1984, when he was 14 years old.
