  • Press release: Beginning on July 7, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is starting work on Eastbound I-290/the Eisenhower Expressway approaching the Circle Interchange. The first stage of the project closes the far right lane approaching the ramp to I-90/94/the Dan Ryan Expressway. New sewer lines will be jacked underneath the pavement of I-290 Expressway. A double faced barrier wall will be installed in lieu of guardrail and a retaining wall built to prevent erosion problems along the slope between Halsted and Harrison St. The second stage of the project closes the left lane of I-290 from Morgan St. to Halsted St. This will allow the contractor to install a new storm sewer line between the shoulder and left lane.
