  • The Official State Symbols of the State of Illinois are designated by acts of the General Assembly. On the pages to come, you will see and learn about some of our natural resources State Symbols. On this page, you'll find a list of the rest of the State Symbols. The Illinois State Symbols activity book from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is designed to supplement your curriculum in a variety of ways. The information and activities can help you meet the following Illinois Learning Standards: 12.B.1a; 12.B.2b. For more information about other educational materials available, contact the IDNR Division of Education (217/524-4126; dnr.teachkids@illinois.gov). IDNR activity books are designed for use by children on their own or with the assistance of a teacher or parents.
