- The following is a joint statement from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Illinois Department of Agriculture:The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) announced today that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has approved the use of criminal history record information checks for non-Illinois state and federal criminal background checks of medical cannabis organizations. This approval is pursuant to changes made to the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act by Public Act 98-1172. The Departments shall work jointly to ensure that these extended criminal background checks will be conducted prior to the initial operation of any cultivation center or dispensary.
