- Press Release: The December unemployment rate fell for the fourth consecutive month to reach 8.6 percent, according to preliminary data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). The data is seasonally adjusted. Non-farm payrolls decreased 3,200 in December and Illinois has +62,200 more jobs than one year ago.
