  • On the 149th anniversary of June tenth, the Administration of Governor Pat Quinn will host the State of Illinois sixth annual celebration of the holiday which commemorates the abolition of slavery in the United States. The festive event, tied to the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln, will be held in the Concourse of the James R. Thompson Center. The theme for this years celebration is Were All In This Together and echoes Governor Quinns agenda of inclusion.
