  • December 10, 2013. The Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) will host the Governors Conference on Aging, on December 11, 12 and 13, at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, 540 N. Michigan Avenue, in Chicago. Each year, IDoA hosts the conference which is considered the departments largest statewide meeting of professionals who work in the field, as well as the most comprehensive training event for providers, who serve older adults. At this 32nd annual conference Director John K. Holton, Ph.D., will welcome a special delegation from the Peoples Republic of China, who will participate in a panel discussion about global aging. Members of the Chinese delegation will discuss challenges facing its elderly population which is estimated to be more than 200 million adults age 60 and older; delegates will also learn about how Illinois structures its delivery of quality services in light of an ever-increasing demand. The panel discussion is set for Wednesday, December 11 during the morning intensives which begin at 9:00 a.m.
