- The Illinois Department of Natural Resources' (IDNR) Division of Education’s Kids for Conservation® September topic is “migration.” We will feature images of migratory species in Illinois, stories/poems/artwork about migratory species in Illinois and a map with locations highlighted where migratory species have been seen in our state. We are suggesting the mourning dove, ruby-throated hummingbird, monarch butterfly adult, turkey vulture, killdeer and blue-winged teal as possible subjects, but we’ll accept photos of and information about any September migrating species in Illinois.
